実は権限は設定できるのだ。sshのログインアカウントを用意してあるので、それが使える。

Debianって/etc/logrotate.d/ディレクトリはないんだっけ？

いつもはここに（例えば）nginxというファイルを置いて
/usr/local/nginx/logs/*log {
missingok
notifempty
compress
compresscms /usr/bin/bzip2
compressext .bz2
delaycompress
}
みたいな内容で勝手にローテートしてもらっている。
